Rome, May 30 – The fitness of midfielder Riccardo
Montolivo is Italy coach Antonio Conte’s biggest headache before
he names his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016 on Tuesday.
Montolivo’s presence looks in danger with a leg muscle
injury – hopes that he had recovered were dashed when he had to
pull out of training session before Sunday’s laboured 1-0 win
over Scotland in a pre-tournament friendly.
It would be particularly hard on the AC Milan player, who
missed out on the 2014 World Cup after breaking his leg in a
warm-up game.
It would also be a big blow to Conte after injuries ruled
out Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio and Paris
Saint-Germain playmaker Marco Verratti.
